Actually, I think the court deal was just MG asking for what Jerry had promised her and DK did not want her to have. Jerry apparently promised her a certain amount of money a year and because there was not formal written agreement, Koons did not want her to have anything. It wasn't really a classic estate battle. MG seserved it for all the shit he put her through.

Anyway, the whole will thing was handled poorly. I couldn't believe the band took it to court to stop Doug Irwin from getting Jerry's guitars even though they knew it was what Jerry really wanted. Kind of started the whole Post Jerry thing of like assholes.(yeah I know, they would fit right in here)

I just felt that after Jerry died, the spirit left the body. I never was really interested in seeing the band without him. I went to one show just to check out the scene. Mostly what I expected, some better some worse. I still can't past a chick singing Jerry tunes.

Cool, I don't know shit about what consititues a "classic estate battle" and what doesn't, so thanks for clearing that up.

I stopped going to shows in 1991 but I too was shocked at how quickly everything descended into nasty squabbling once Jerry died.

As for the later incarnations, I never had any interest. It wasn't that I thought Jerry was the Dead, but to me there was no Dead without him.

i hear you. For me, when Jerry was alive, it was @ 70% music and 30% scene to me. Now it's 70% scene and 30% music.
No one can replace Jerry. Phil with Kimock came the closest to the magic imho
